Concept of Scales

A scale is an object that defines the ratio in which units of model space correlate to units of paper space and indicates how many paper units fit to one drawing unit. The scale is the calculated amount defined by the paper and drawing units, and it influences the model representation in paper viewports of layouts.

To refer to a scale, database objects use the name or Object ID. Several objects can refer to the same scale. The database associates an ID with each scale and requires a unique name for each scale in order to identify it.
